Augmented Reality in Health Care Simulation
The Augmented Reality Integrated Simulation Education (ARISE) Project provides healthcare educators with a unique opportunity to enhance student engagement using a novel adaptation of augmented reality (AR).
iPads, QR Codes, and the Augmented Reality and Interactive Storytelling (ARIS) platform, allow for a completely immersive student experience complete with:
- Realistic videos of patients as they experience health care events across the continuum of care.
- Videos of discipline-specific, hand-off reports for a more engaging learner experience.
- Genuine lung sounds and heart tones that can be placed in realistic locations for better diagnostic value.
- Vivid, high-quality images of wounds, lines, chest tubes, etc. to deliver what even the best moulage cannot.
In addition, many of the ARISE Project’s designed learning experiences include a simulated patient chart with an interactive Medication Administration Record (MAR), up-to-date diagnostic results and labs, and evidence-based, best-practice provider orders.
